InDesign Automation

I worked with Open AI’s ChatGPT to develop an Adobe InDesign script in JavaScript to make copies of a blank page. The copies will include templated folios and incremental page numbers that correspond to the numbered file names.

I created the script for news organization Sightline Media Group, a client I do graphic design and magazine pagination for. At the beginning of each production cycle, some 140 InDesign files with one blank page per file must be created.

The process can take up to two hours but can be accomplished in less than 5 minutes using this script. I’ve made the script open source, so feel free to use personally or commercially.
